The Nepenthes Monkey Jar is found in the tropical regions of Asia - mainly Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore and New Guinea. The name Monkey Jar comes from monkeys occasionally drinking the fluid found in the pitchers. As a carnivorous plant, insects are attracted to the pitchers due to the nectar secretions and their vibrant colour. Once the insect falls into the pitcher, it will be digested and taken in as food. Keep the soil damp, watering around twice a week and using a plant sprayer to keep humid. Advised to fully immerse in water once a week also for 15 minutes. Top up the water in the pitchers at 1/3. Keep any house bugs and critters for extra food!
